How we Find Cheap Accommodation (and even stay free)

Vlogs · October 11, 2014

This post may contain compensated links. See our Terms of Use for full disclosure.

Accommodation may be one of the biggest costs while travelling, but it also offers some of the biggest opportunities for savings. We've been travelling full-time for the past 15 months now. That means that we're constantly on the move and on the hunt for cheap accommodation options. How have we been staying on the cheap and sometimes even for free? This video shows you how.

You can find links to all the websites mentioned in this video below for easy reference.

The websites mentioned in this video:
1. For housesitting, trustedhousesitters.com
Use the coupon code ‘MARRIED' for a 25% discount on membership sign-up.
2. For cheap rooms with locals, airbnb.com
3. For hostels, hostelworld.com
4. For budget hotels, booking.com

Some of the above links are affiliate links, which we'd really appreciate you using if you are planning on using any of these sites. Using our affiliate links when signing up or booking doesn't cost you any more, but it does tell them that we referred you, which earns us a small commission that pays for the coffee that fuels this website.

There’s not much in the way of budget accommodation in Dubai. Cheap guest house style accommodation that is common in Asian destinations does not fit in with Dubai’s grandmaster plan of being a luxury holiday and shopping stop-over hub

Great tips, guys! I’ve been an AirBnB fan for years. Our stays in Montreal and Seattle were inexpensive and located in the coolest neighborhoods. Hotels were at least twice the cost. Living like a local is always better!

Thanks Britt! Staying in a local neighbourhood shows you a whole different side to a city, doesn’t it?!
