In this week’s round-up of our ‘photo a day project’, we feel the coastal vibe in Kuşadası and head to Konya for a more spiritual one.
Here's what we got up to in Turkey this week!
Photo a day project: April 28th 2014. Atatürk Hill. Having previously visited Kuşadası on a global cruise three years ago almost to the day, Jess knew exactly where to go for the best view over the bay. And quite the view it was.
Photo a day project: April 29th 2014. Catch of the day. When it comes to the best eats, the locals know where it's at. So when we were recommended this great but slight pricey seafood restaurant in the seaside resort town of Kuşadası, we couldn't resist stopping by for lunch. Only it meant cup ramen for dinner ;)
Photo a day project: April 30th 2014. Ripples and reflections. One final evening stroll along Ladies Beach to enjoy another spectacular sunset before packing up and saying goodbye to Kuşadası.
Photo a day project: May 1st 2014. Pretty form and delicious function. Not only are sun dried vegetables an important part of Turkish cuisine, they also make wonderful decorations, beautifully strung around the home ready for the next time stuffed aubergines and peppers are on the menu.
Photo a day project: May 2nd 2014. Suspense. With what little downtime we have between travel and the blog, we enjoy watching a little TV drama. Recently we've been engrossed with ‘Breaking Bad' but sadly we've just completed the series. What should we see next?
Photo a day project: May 3rd 2014. Whirling Dervishes. A major reason for wanting to drop into Konya was to be able to observe this unique Sufi ceremony. Although appearing much like a dance performance, the SEMÂ represents a spiritual journey of maturity; an ascension to heaven and a return to earth.
Photo a day project: May 4th 2014. Audience. The steps of Konya's Selimiye Mosque became an ideal sitting area, providing respite from the midday sun as we watched a historical reenactment being performed with much fanfare in the adjacent square.
