A great deal of awesome posts were published this week. Makes my job of picking five favourites all the more difficult but none-the-less, well done travel bloggers!
These were our picks of the bunch.
1. What Not to Do When You Get Dengue by Legal Nomads
Wow, this one had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I couldn't read each gripping and brilliantly composed sentence fast enough. In this post, Jodi of Legal Nomads takes us on a rather personal journey of her deteriorating health over the past year and what eventually lead to her diagnosis. As someone who has had a lengthy travel illness (no where near as bad as Jodi's, let me tell you), I can relate to the stress of months upon months of no one being able to tell you what's wrong with you. Only you know there is, you know your own body, and these symptoms are real. This is travel story-telling at its finest and ends with some pretty pertinent health advice. Wishing you a speedy recovery, girlfriend.
2. Unique Things to do in Berlin by Suitcase Stories
We love discovering the weird and wonderful of the cities we visit. So this post by Suitcase Stories was right up our alley, not to mention totally apt as we are currently in Berlin and deciding how to spend the rest of our time here! I was drawn in immediately by the first suggestion, the Peristal Signum. We recently watched an episode of The Amazing Race in which they go to a crazy labyrinth and we are pretty sure this is it. Definitely going to try to work this into our itinerary. Thanks guys!
3. 23 Reasons Why I Love San Pedro, Belize by A Passion and A Passport
Belize is a destination that has been showing up on our radar more and more recently and this post by Jess of A Passion and A Passport really had us dreaming of heading there sooner rather than later. We love that in addition to the relaxed beach atmosphere, she talks about other draws of San Pedro and different ways to enjoy the beautiful waters. As travellers who enjoy an awesome view but can't sit idly on the beach for too long, we found this list to be appealing for travellers with a wide-range of interests. Fortunately, Belize seems to be a country that pops up quite frequently on housesitting sites. Let's see if we can make this work!
4. Discovering Melbourne's Hidden Secrets by Velvet Escape
Travel has really taught us to look at the familiar in a new light. Often some of the coolest things go unnoticed when they are right under your nose. We enjoyed this virtual tour of our own city by Keith of the Velvet Escape. Of course, we recognized many of the places, but we bet he knows more about them after this walking tour he went on! This post inspired us to seek out a tour like this whenever we are back to (re)discover this city we are pretty lucky to call home. P.S. – I need to know where that vintage store is!
5. New York: I Need Help by the.ego.tripper
At the risk of making his ego even bigger, we like the.ego.tripper's style. His posts are witty, entertaining and have some good ideas traipsing about there too. In this post, he seeks “da vibe” in NYC. Have you been? Help out a traveller on a tight schedule and tell him what not to miss!
