In this week’s round-up of our ‘photo a day project’, we slow things down a little to hangout with good friends in Istanbul and, feeling our impending departure from this magnificent country, make a final dash to revisit a favourite.
What did you get up to this week?
May 26th 2014. Daisies. One of the many things that have impressed us about Istanbul are the small pockets of well maintained lawns and gardens bursting with colour. Often found on median strips, some folks just lay down for an afternoon nap despite the traffic on either side.
May 27th 2014. Sunset over the Bosphorus. As much as we love spending time over on the European side of Istanbul, the Asian side’s sunsets have got it beat.
May 28th 2014. Boiled or roasted? We prefer the latter because it gives us an excuse to light up the BBQ.
May 29th 2014. Dream big. When you find a dandelion wand this big, you’ve got to match it with a suitably huge wish! What do you call these where you’re from?
May 30th 2014. Maiden Tower. Built in the 12th century and sitting alone on a tiny islet at the south entrance to the Bosphorus, Istanbul’s Maiden Tower has two legends linked to its name. Both involve a fair maiden and no happily ever afters.
May 31st 2014. Overnight coach. Our amazing adventures across Turkey are nearing an end, but not without one more road trip. A last minute decision to revisit one of our favourite World Heritage sites that we didn’t get much time to soak in the first time, can anyone guess where?
June 1st 2014. Travertine terraces. With our first visit to Pamukkale being rather rushed and not knowing whether we’d get a better opportunity, we headed back for the full hot spring experience.
